Fresh Coffee

There is nothing like starting the day with fresh coffee perfectly brewed from fresh roasted beans.

That is why we roast the beans when you order and include a "Roasted On" date on each bag. You receive an aromatic and flavorful arabica coffee. The bitter and stale taste many are accustomed to is not there because whole beans hold aroma longer than grounds. If stored properly, the freshness lasts for up to a month before the taste begins to noticeably decline. Sugar and creme are no longer needed if the only reason they are used is to cover the bad taste of the old stuff. Fresh coffee has a little sweetness already built in.

Packaged store coffees have been there for weeks, possibly months...and it took awhile for it to make it through the transportation and warehousing chain before finally settling on the shelf.

Fresh coffee is making a difference...even McDonalds, Burger King, convenience stores and store brand coffees are using "premium", "fresh", "gourmet" and other buzz words to push their "new" lines of coffee. But the only way to know you have the real thing is to receive them with the "Roasted On" date stamped on the bag.

Most of the name brand coffee companies find the best deal on beans, mixing the cheaper robusta with arabica beans in an attempt to find a decent taste. The blend is then ground and packaged to capture the fragrances in the bag. The aromatic compounds dissipate within minutes of opening the package. What's left are the depleted grounds that make for a bitter taste.

If you buy an amount that normally is consumed within a month, there will always be fresh beans ready. No more buying coffee that will be stale and still in the cabinet six months later.

For freshness insurance, our Coffee by Rote coffee club takes the hassle out of buying. Once the coffee origin, number of bags and shipping frequency is in place, the worries of ordering are taken away. An email reminder is sent a week in advance of the scheduled shipment in case changes need to be made or quantities changed. No response is needed if there are no changes and the coffee is sent automatically on the desired date. You can cancel at anytime without hassle.

Protecting Consistent Freshness

There are a few things you can do that will guarantee fresh coffee like:

  • Ordering fresh roasted whole bean coffee to keep freshness locked in until brewing time,
  • Storing an open coffee package properly
  • Grinding whole beans immediately prior to brewing and grinding to match the brewing process.
  • Using taste and odor filtered or bottled water,
  • Cleaning the coffee brewer regularly.

We also have tips if you are comparing different brewing methods.

With fresh roasted whole bean coffee and a little education, you can be drinking the best tasting coffee with every brew.  It doesn't take much, a little change of habit, proper storage, a good grinder and your favorite brewing method.

Wishing you great coffee!
